As Part of Job Creation Support Project
Field-Oriented Forestry Training Provided
Sancheong County in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 23rd that it will officially begin training programs to foster skilled forestry professionals.
This training, selected as part of the 2024 Gyeongnam Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project, is aimed at unemployed individuals and those seeking re-employment, with the goal of helping them find jobs in the forestry sector.
The county has provided full coverage of tuition and free accommodation to encourage active participation from trainees. The training, targeting 15 applicants, is being conducted as a six-week residential program at the Yangsan Training Center of the Korea Forestry Cooperative Federation, a specialized educational institution, from June 22 to August 30.
The curriculum focuses on practical fieldwork, including afforestation, forest management, logging, timber collection technology, and arborist (risky tree felling) skills, with both theoretical and hands-on training in forest management.
Upon completion, trainees will obtain the Level 2 Forest Management Technician qualification in accordance with relevant regulations. They will also fulfill the '100-hour completion of forestry successor and return-to-farming education' requirement, making them eligible for the forestry successor qualification if they wish to pursue forest management.
Kang Youngsook, head of the county's Economic and Transportation Division, said, "We hope this project will foster professional skilled workers in the local forestry sector and contribute to the creation of new jobs."
