The Win-Win Growth Committee, Korea Power Exchange, and Korea Rural Community Corporation signed a participation agreement on the '2024 ESG Support Project for Partner Companies' on the 23rd.
Through this agreement, the Power Exchange and Rural Community Corporation will support ESG management improvement activities of local small and medium-sized partner companies, which tend to lose interest in ESG. The Win-Win Growth Committee plans to comprehensively support partner companies' ESG management practices by selecting customized ESG indicators for partner SMEs according to the SME ESG standard guidelines, and providing ESG education, diagnosis, and on-site inspection (consulting).
Last year, the Power Exchange, which participated in the project for the first time, has systematically supported the strengthening of ESG capabilities for small and medium-sized partner companies to leap forward as export companies. The Rural Community Corporation, participating in the project for the third consecutive year, supported the establishment of a human rights and ethical management system focused on responsible supply chain management of partner companies as a proactive response to the European Union (EU) Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
This year, with the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the passage of the EU Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), support will focus on establishing human rights and occupational safety and health management systems, which are of high interest to partner companies.
In particular, partner companies with excellent compliance rates for ESG indicators will be issued an 'ESG Excellent SME Certificate' and can receive incentives such as preferential interest rates (Shinhan, KDB, Kyongnam, Kookmin Banks), preferential treatment in overseas expansion support projects (KOTRA, KOICA), and environmental and energy technology support (Korea Institute of Energy Research).
Oh Young-gyo, Chairman of the Win-Win Growth Committee, stated, "As public institutions realizing various social responsibilities, the Power Exchange and Rural Community Corporation are leading the continuous spread of a win-win growth culture that coexists with SMEs," adding, "Through this Win-Win Growth Committee project, we hope to contribute to the spread of a win-win culture and the development of local communities by supporting the ESG management of local partner companies."
