Hansome System Enters Paris, France... Popup at Galeries Lafayette Department Store

Europe's Largest Department Store Chain
Lafayette Actively Proposes Store Entry

Hansome, a fashion specialist company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced on the 23rd that it has opened a pop-up store for the leading Korean women's casual brand "System" at the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann flagship store in Paris, France.

Galeries Lafayette is the largest department store chain in Europe, boasting a history of 130 years. The Haussmann flagship store, located in the heart of Paris, is a representative store housing numerous global top luxury brands as well as emerging designer brands gaining attention in the fashion industry.

Hansome System Enters Paris, France... Popup at Galeries Lafayette Department Store

The System pop-up store, which opened on the 2nd floor of the women's section (main building) of the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann flagship store on the 17th, is scheduled to operate for about seven months until the end of January next year. Here, Hansome comprehensively showcases over 200 products ranging from System’s challenging and creative design philosophy to minimalist everyday wear. The interior also applies the red color representing the System global collection throughout the store to differentiate it from other stores.

The pop-up store is located at the escalator entrance on the 2nd floor of the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann flagship store, a highly visible area. Around the System store are France’s representative contemporary brand AMI, French luxury fashion brand Courreges, Maison Margiela’s second brand MM6 Maison Margiela, and Hollywood star Kim Kardashian’s innerwear brand SKIMS.

According to Hansome, this System pop-up store was realized through Galeries Lafayette’s active proposal for entry. At the 2023 Fall/Winter Paris Fashion Week held last January, System held a solo presentation, where key figures including the general buying director of Galeries Lafayette attended to confirm the brand’s design and quality competitiveness, subsequently signing a wholesale contract. Galeries Lafayette began selling the purchased System products at its directly managed select shop (La Designer Galerie) within the Haussmann flagship store from March last year, and later proposed opening a pop-up store in the form of a standalone store to Hansome.

Hansome plans to accelerate the expansion of its global distribution network starting with this pop-up store. Currently, in addition to Galeries Lafayette, it is negotiating to open standalone stores in major Asian department stores where K-fashion is gaining popularity, including Printemps and Le Bon March?, two of the top three department stores in France. Furthermore, Hansome intends to enhance business efficiency and profitability by sharing products and personnel between this pop-up store and the flagship store "System·System Homme Paris" opened last month in the Marais district of Paris.

A Hansome representative said, “Our efforts to knock on the door of the global fashion market, based on confidence in design and quality, are bearing fruit,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen our position as a global fashion brand through continuous expansion of overseas sales networks.”
