The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) has concluded the report case regarding former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung's 'helicopter transfer preferential treatment controversy' with a decision of 'no violation found.'

On the 22nd, Jeong Seung-yoon, Vice Chairman of the ACRC's Anti-Corruption Division and Secretary-General, held a plenary committee meeting and stated, "The report against the former opposition leader (former leader Lee Jae-myung) and his chief secretary, Member of the National Assembly (Chun Jun-ho), was closed because the Code of Conduct for Members of the National Assembly does not apply," adding, "Due to insufficient evidence regarding violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, we have decided to close the case."

Since January 2nd, multiple reports have been received by the ACRC claiming that although former leader Lee, who was attacked with a weapon in Busan, was not in a life-threatening condition, he was transported to Seoul by a 119 fire department helicopter, which was considered excessive preferential treatment.

The ACRC investigated whether the emergency helicopter transfer of former leader Lee at that time violated the Code of Conduct for Public Officials and whether there was any illegal preferential treatment during his transfer to Seoul National University Hospital.

However, the ACRC confirmed violations of the Code of Conduct by medical staff at the university hospitals and fire department personnel involved in this incident and decided to notify the respective supervisory agencies accordingly.

Vice Chairman Jeong said, "We confirmed violations of the Code of Conduct by doctors at Busan National University Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital, as well as staff from the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, during the transfer from Busan National University Hospital to Seoul National University Hospital and the use of the 119 emergency medical helicopter," adding, "We have decided to notify the supervisory agencies of these violations respectively."
