Reports of Damage Continue to Come In Nationwide
A man in his 30s was booked by the police for borrowing a large sum of money from acquaintances by promising high interest rates and then failing to repay it.
On the 22nd, the Ganghwa Police Station in Incheon announced that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 30s, Mr. A, on charges of fraud. Mr. A is suspected of borrowing over 5 billion won from about 50 acquaintances by promising high interest rates from early last year until recently and not repaying the money.
According to the investigation, Mr. A borrowed money by offering interest rates as high as 20% per annum.
The police stated that complaints against Mr. A have also been filed at police stations in other regions such as Seoul and Daejeon. They expect the scale of the damage to increase further.
A police official said, "Reports of damage are continuously coming in from across the country," and added, "We plan to promptly investigate those involved in the case."
