In the video, students are seen gathered in small groups chatting or sitting at their desks taking out lunch boxes and resting. Suddenly, the wall by the window collapses in an instant, bringing down the classroom floor where desks and chairs were placed. Several students who were sitting against the collapsed window frame and near the window fell along with desks and chairs. The video also shows students who were on the collapsed classroom side narrowly avoiding the fall and others running away in surprise.
Fortunately, the classroom was on the first floor. The classroom outer wall and the children fell onto a bicycle rack, preventing a major casualty. One student was injured and hospitalized but is reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries. Other damages were limited to several bicycles being broken.
After the accident, local residents and school officials expressed conflicting views regarding the building’s safety. Residents pointed out, "Cracks appeared in the school building and we requested repairs, but the school only applied plaster on the surface." On the other hand, the school stated, "We have all the necessary certificates including construction permits and structural safety approvals."
The police plan to continue a detailed investigation related to the incident.
