Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province is accepting nominations for the '27th Pyeongtaek City Proud Farmers and Fishermen Awards' until the 31st of this month.
The 'Pyeongtaek City Proud Farmers and Fishermen Awards' have been established and implemented by the city since 1998 through the 'Farmers and Fishermen Awards Ordinance.' The awards recognize farmers, fishermen, and organizations that have contributed to securing competitiveness and increasing income in agriculture and fisheries through new knowledge or technology.
The award categories include ▲High-Quality Rice Production ▲Fruit Farming ▲Vegetables ▲Floriculture and Special Crops ▲Livestock ▲Fisheries and Forestry ▲Environmental Agriculture, Local Food, Rural Tourism, and Returning to Farming and Fishing. Candidates must reside in Pyeongtaek and operate an agricultural or fishery business, and be engaged in agriculture or fisheries.
Applications can be submitted to the heads of towns, townships, and neighborhoods, as well as local agricultural cooperatives, livestock cooperatives, fruit farming cooperatives, fisheries cooperatives, and forestry cooperatives by the 31st. By the 16th of next month, these officials will recommend award candidates by category to the Mayor of Pyeongtaek.
For the recommended candidates, on-site investigations will be conducted to verify the facts of their achievements, and the Pyeongtaek City Agriculture, Rural, and Food Industry Policy Deliberation Committee will select the awardees. The winners will be announced in October, and the awards ceremony is planned for November 2nd, on the 29th Farmers' Day.
Awardees will also receive benefits such as priority recommendation for various agricultural and fishery-related awards at the Gyeonggi Province and national levels next year, appointment as honorary instructors for agricultural education to train agricultural experts, priority support when applying for agricultural and fishery management funds in Gyeonggi Province, and additional points when applying for agricultural and fishery-related support projects.
