6 Additional Locations Designated... Part-Time Childcare Service Provided by 8 Institutions from August
Temporary Use Within 60 Hours per Month, 2,000 KRW Co-Payment per Hour
Independent Class (Infants 6 to under 36 months), Integrated Class (Infants 6 months to 2 years)
Starting August 1, the number of institutions providing hourly childcare services in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will be expanded to eight locations.
The "hourly childcare service" is a system where parents pay childcare fees based on usage within a monthly limit of 60 hours to use daycare centers. It helps reduce the childcare burden on moms and dads by allowing temporary care for children in unexpected situations.
Currently, the service is operated at two locations: the Dongdaemun-gu Childcare Support Center Jegi Branch and Dapsimni Branch. Six additional locations will be designated, enabling the use of hourly childcare services at a total of eight institutions starting in August.
The hourly childcare fee is 5,000 KRW, but 3,000 KRW of this is subsidized by the national and local governments, so users only pay 2,000 KRW per hour.
The eligible users are ▲ for the independent class, infants aged 6 months to under 36 months ▲ for the integrated class, infants aged 6 months to 2 years.
The "hourly childcare service providing institutions" can be found on the pregnancy and childcare comprehensive portal "I Sarang" (Find a Daycare / Select Features / Hourly Childcare).
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "We will strive to create a dense care environment where parents can raise their children with peace of mind."
