This training was organized in consideration of the fact that the majority of victims in the recent Hwaseong factory fire were foreign workers. It will be held primarily at three foreign worker consultation centers to proactively prevent workplace accidents and promote a culture of safety.

Instructors from professional safety and health education institutions were invited to deliver lectures on topics such as workplace safety management, prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, prevention of heat-related illnesses, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and evacuation procedures in case of fire. Audiovisual materials such as videos and photos were actively utilized to help foreign workers clearly understand how to respond to industrial accidents.

Yu Taeran, head of the Labor Welfare Division, said, "Gumi has the fourth largest registered foreign population in the province, and the number of foreign workers is increasing due to labor shortages in workplaces. We hope that this training will help prevent industrial accidents among foreign workers, who are particularly vulnerable to safety issues, and raise their safety awareness."

The city is currently promoting the 'Gyeongbuk Happy Enterprise Industrial Safety Environment Improvement Project,' which supports facility improvements after conducting precision safety inspections at small businesses with poor working conditions. Safety culture campaigns are also being held at various events.

In addition, this year, the city is carrying out ten youth-friendly renovation projects for aging factories, eight consulting projects for establishing safety and health management systems, and a smart safety equipment installation project, all funded by national government grants.
