The demand survey is being promoted to discover research tasks in the forestry field to support the resolution of national issues such as forest disasters and carbon neutrality, as well as to drive growth in the forestry and forest products industries.

The survey covers six areas: ▲ forest disasters ▲ forestry management ▲ wood industry ▲ biological resources ▲ forest environment ▲ forest welfare.

Applications can be submitted online through the ‘Inter-Ministerial Integrated Research Support System (IRIS)’ by anyone interested in forest science and technology R&D projects, including those in forestry industry sites, schools, and research institutions.

The Korea Forestry Promotion Institute plans to form a demand survey discovery team and conduct on-site demand surveys by visiting forestry organizations and workplaces during regular general meetings and academic conferences.

The proposed contents will be reflected in the new forest science and technology funded R&D projects for 2026 after expert review and evaluation based on priority and effectiveness.

Im Sang-seop, Administrator of the Korea Forest Service, said, “The R&D technology demand survey is an important step in discovering and designing forest policies needed in the field,” adding, “We will promote policies that can be tangibly felt in the field through practical research based on science and technology.”
