"Get Help for Crime Victims in One Place"… 'One-Stop Solution Center' Opens First Nationwide in Seoul

Synergy with Seoul City agencies on digital sex crimes, stalking victim support

The 'One-Stop Solution Center for Crime Victims,' where crime victims can receive various types of assistance including economic, legal, psychological, welfare, and financial support all in one place, has opened in Seoul for the first time nationwide. It was established as part of the Ministry of Justice's national project to build a 'One-Stop Support System for Crime Victims.'

On the 22nd, according to Seoul City, Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended the opening ceremony of the 'One-Stop Solution Center for Crime Victims' held at the Seoul Women’s Plaza, along with Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae and officials from the Korea Legal Aid Corporation.

Earlier, in November, Seoul City signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Justice to install and operate the 'One-Stop Solution Center for Crime Victims,' and made efforts to prepare the center space and select and attract participating organizations for the center’s establishment.

During the center’s creation process, 14 organizations participated, including the prosecution, police, Ministry of Employment and Labor Employment Center, Korea Legal Aid Corporation, Crime Victim Support Center, Legal Home Doctor, Integrated Support Center for Low-Income Finance, Seoul City Welfare Support Team, Seoul Digital Sexual Crime Safety Support Center, Seoul Stalking Victim One-Stop Support Center, Seoul Job Center, Smile Center, statement assistants, and public defenders for victims.

Through this, victims can receive integrated support at the center for all types of crimes that overlap from the victim support perspective, including personal protection, investigation cooperation, psychological, legal, employment, welfare, financial support, and medical linkage throughout the entire process. Previously, support for victims was limited to personal protection, psychological counseling, legal support, and job support according to each crime type during the recovery process.

Seoul City expects that with the recent overlapping occurrence of crimes such as digital sexual crimes, stalking, domestic violence, and sexual violence, the need for an integrated center has been raised. Through the opening of this center, it is anticipated that the burden and inconvenience of victims having to visit multiple institutions will be reduced, and more systematic support will be provided. In particular, social welfare public officials will be exclusively assigned to the center to provide welfare services for crime victims, and the Seoul Digital Sexual Crime Safety Support Center and Seoul Stalking Victim One-Stop Support Center, operated by Seoul City, will also participate as victim support organizations. Victims can also receive counseling by phone.

Mayor Oh Se-hoon of Seoul said, "Seoul City has been deeply considering how to respond to evolving and diverse crimes such as stalking and digital sexual crimes. Going forward, we will continue to work together with the Ministry of Justice and related organizations to help crime victims heal more quickly and recover their daily lives, and to create a safer Seoul for citizens."
