Improved Fire Safety Services Expected for Over 11,000 Residents in Macheon, Anui, Jigok, and Sudong Areas
Hamyang County in Gyeongnam announced on the 22nd that a land use agreement has been signed regarding the relocation and new construction of the Anui 119 Safety Center and the Macheon Mountain Rescue Team, with County Governor Jin Byungyeong, Hamyang Fire Station Chief Son Daehyeop, and others in attendance at the governor's office.
The Anui 119 Safety Center and the Macheon Mountain Rescue Team were established in 1977 and 1996, respectively. Due to the deteriorating condition of the current facilities, limited parking for fire vehicles, and insufficient storage for firefighting equipment, the need for relocation has been a long-standing project for the county.
In April, Hamyang County completed compensation negotiations for land acquisition in Ijeon-ri, Anui-myeon, and Gunja-ri, Macheon-myeon. Through the signing of this land use agreement, the county plans to provide the land free of charge and actively support the improvement of residents' quality of life and the provision of high-quality firefighting services.
In particular, the Macheon Mountain Rescue Team is responsible for the Macheon-myeon area, while the Anui 119 Safety Center covers the three regions of Anui, Jigok, and Sudong. With this agreement, the safety of residents in four districts, totaling approximately 11,000 people, is expected to be greatly enhanced.
Governor Jin said, "With the continuous increase in various disasters and emergencies, the swift response of the fire department has become even more important. We will do our best to make Hamyang a safe place where residents can live with peace of mind."
Chief Son stated, "I would like to thank the governor and county officials for their efforts in facilitating the relocation of the Anui and Macheon fire stations. With the new facilities, we expect more efficient equipment operation and increased motivation among firefighters, which will enhance our on-site response capabilities."
Meanwhile, the relocation and new construction project for the Anui 119 Safety Center and the Macheon Mountain Rescue Team is scheduled to begin design in 2025, with completion targeted for 2026.
