Busan Office of Education to Run 'High School Summer School' for 1st and 2nd Year Students

1,093 Participants in 64 Courses Including High Schools and Universities

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) is launching a summer school program for high school students during the summer vacation.

The summer school will be held from the 23rd to August 3rd at a total of 17 locations, including 4 high schools and 13 universities in the Busan area, targeting 1,093 first and second-year students from general and autonomous private high schools.

The high school summer school offers a variety of creative and integrated subjects?such as research, experiments and practical training, discussions and debates, essay writing, and arts and physical education?that are difficult to establish and operate at individual schools. This provides students with opportunities to develop creativity and experience potential career paths.

Out of 170 courses, the Busan Office of Education selected and opened a final 64 courses in various fields, such as "Artificial Intelligence and Project Science Class," "I Am a Future Architect," and "Fun Forensics," through a review process.

Course operators, consisting of university professors and high school teachers, selected students by reviewing their self-introduction letters. They will conduct student-centered experiential classes for 18 to 24 hours over about five days. Completion of the high school summer school can be used as documentation for career activities in the creative experiential activities section of the school life record.

Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "Due to the full implementation of the high school credit system in the 2025 academic year, students are showing great interest in the high school summer school, where they can contemplate their career paths and experience classes taught by professors in their fields of interest in advance. I hope that participating in the summer school will greatly help students explore their future careers."
