Seoul Metro Overseas Railway Officials Internship Training

Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) will conduct a 10-day hands-on internship program from July 15 to 24 for railway officials from four overseas countries participating in the Woosong University Global Railway Training Course.

The Global Railway Training Course is a project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Railroad Association to support domestic companies' entry into overseas markets. Every year, about 30 overseas railway officials are invited and trained as key personnel in the railway sector.

This global internship program invites trainees selected from countries where the corporation is focusing its overseas business capabilities: ▲Indonesia ▲Mongolia ▲Thailand ▲Egypt.

The training content focuses on transferring operational technology and practical experience in key areas such as control, vehicle depots, and station operations.

In particular, the program plans to enhance understanding of the Seoul subway and promote its excellence by introducing the corporation’s major overseas business progress, extended lines, domestic and international railway projects, as well as subway innovation technologies such as the ‘Smart Station.’

Recently, the corporation has been accelerating its overseas railway projects, including the confirmation of the Jakarta urban railway operation consulting project in Indonesia (total project cost approximately 13 billion KRW).

Kim Jeong-hwan, Head of the New Growth Division at Seoul Metro, said, “The internship program is a valuable opportunity to exchange with overseas railway officials, promote the excellence of the Seoul subway, and lay the foundation for winning business contracts. We will continue to enhance cooperation through ongoing overseas exchanges and strive to expand our overseas business ventures.”
