Vice President Harris: "I Will Become a Presidential Candidate and Defeat Trump" (Update)

Kamala Harris, the U.S. Vice President considered the top candidate for the 'post-Biden' era, stated on the 21st (local time), "I am honored to have President Joe Biden's support," adding, "My goal is to become the candidate and win the election on November 5."

Vice President Harris: "I Will Become a Presidential Candidate and Defeat Trump" (Update)

Vice President Harris made this statement after President Biden, who announced his withdrawal from the Democratic presidential race that day, publicly endorsed her.

She said, "Over the past year, I have traveled across the United States, speaking to Americans about what a clear choice in this important election looks like. I will continue to do so," adding, "I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party and the country to defeat former President Donald Trump and his extreme 'Project 2025' agenda."

She also emphasized, "There are 107 days left until the election," and said, "We will fight together. And we will win together." If Vice President Harris is confirmed as the Democratic presidential candidate, she will also be vying to become the first female president and the first Asian American president of the United States in the upcoming November election.

Meanwhile, President Biden abruptly withdrew from the presidential race that day. This came about a month after he faced widespread pressure within the Democratic Party to quit following his defeat in the presidential TV debate on the 27th of last month. Despite repeatedly expressing his strong intention to complete the race amid ongoing concerns about his age and cognitive abilities after the debate, it is analyzed that he ultimately made the decision when even the Democratic leadership, his strong allies, began persuading him to step down.

In response, former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, stated, "President Biden will be remembered as the worst president in U.S. history," and added, "Vice President Harris is easier to beat than President Biden."
