"Yeonjin's Prison Uniform Look" Mocked by Chinese Netizens 'Embarrassed'... Korean School Uniform Selected in Global Top 10

Hong Kong Media Selects 10 Cool Uniforms
Including Mongolia National Team Kit That Sparked Major Buzz

The Korean national team's uniform for this year's Paris Olympics was included in the 'Top 10 Most Stylish Uniforms' selected by foreign media, dispelling the ridicule from Chinese netizens.

The Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP) introduced the world's 10 most stylish uniforms on the 19th (local time). Included was the Korean team's blue suit uniform.

The media praised Korea's uniform, saying, "It mainly used Korea's traditional colors of blue and white and incorporated belts as decorative materials, adding elements from the 1980s and 1990s," and "The retro-inspired blue suit combined with a youthful sensibility looks very sophisticated."

It added, "Cool materials were used for the lining of the clothes to prepare for the summer heat."

This team uniform was produced by Musinsa Standard. Musinsa Standard explained, "We chose wall blue, which symbolizes the east and well represents the spirit of youth and progressive mindset, with the hope that the Korean team will shine brightly."

Previously, Chinese netizens mocked the Korean team's uniform on social networking services (SNS), comparing it to the prison uniform of the villain character Park Young-jin (played by Lim Ji-yeon) from the Netflix drama 'The Glory.'

Meanwhile, SCMP's stylish uniform rankings included Canada, the Netherlands, France, and Spain. In Asia, besides Korea, Mongolia and the Philippines were included.

In particular, the Mongolian team uniform became a hot topic ahead of this Olympics. On the 16th, the US CNN evaluated the Mongolian uniform, saying, "Inspired by traditional costumes, it features a vest embroidered with intricate stitching, a gown with pleated decorations, and accessories," and noted its global popularity.

Designed by the Mongolian clothing brand Michelle & Amazonka, this uniform is known to require about 20 hours of handcrafting to make one set.
