Park Eun-bin Prefers Samsung Phones Unlike Other Celebrities
Samsung's Newly Released Foldable Phone Receives Praise from 20s and 30s
Actress Park Eun-bin has been attracting attention as she is frequently seen using the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 following the Galaxy Z Fold4 on social networking services (SNS). Unlike most young female celebrities who prefer Apple's iPhone, Park Eun-bin is known as a long-time fan of the Galaxy series.
Along with this, it has been confirmed that the purchase ratio of the 20s and 30s generations for Samsung Electronics' recently unveiled foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, has exceeded half for the first time. This is an unexpected change for Samsung smartphones, which had been labeled as "Ajjae phones" (phones for middle-aged men). Samsung Electronics announced on the 19th that the domestic pre-sales of the Fold6 and Flip6, conducted from the 12th to the 18th for one week, totaled 910,000 units.

Although this result falls slightly short of last year's record-breaking pre-sales of 1.02 million units for the Fold and Flip5, it received high praise from the 20s and 30s generations. The proportion of the 20s and 30s among the total pre-purchasers rose by 7 percentage points from 43% last year to exceed 50% for the first time. Samsung Electronics analyzed, "The lighter weight, reduced by 14g compared to the previous model, and the slim thickness of 12.1mm providing high portability were the reasons for the positive reception among young consumers."
The pre-sale results by telecom carriers also highlight strong purchases by younger consumers. For LG Uplus's limited edition "Webtoon Hwasan Return Edition," a collaboration with Naver Webtoon, about 81% of buyers were in their 20s and 30s. SK Telecom showed the highest proportion of 30s customers, accounting for about 35% of all pre-registered subscribers, and for the Flip6, female customers in their 30s made up the largest share at 27%.
Nevertheless, the preference of teenagers and people in their 20s for the iPhone remains a challenge for Samsung. According to the "2024 Korean Adult Smartphone Usage Survey" released by Korea Gallup on the 10th, 64% of those aged 18 to 29 use iPhones. Among female respondents in this age group, 75% reported using iPhones. The proportion of males in the same age group who said they use iPhones reached 55%.
