HD Hyundai-Siemens, Regular 'Technology Council' Hosted by Jeong Gi-seon... Discussing Digital Innovation

Held at HD Hyundai Headquarters on the 19th

HD Hyundai and the management of global smart engineering company Siemens Digital Industries Software (DISW) reviewed the status of digital manufacturing implementation.


On the 19th, HD Hyundai held a technical council meeting at its Global R&D Center headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, attended by Jung Ki-sun HD Hyundai Vice Chairman, Tony Hemmelgarn, Siemens DISW Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and other key executives from both companies. HD Hyundai has been collaborating with Siemens since 2022 to develop next-generation design and production platforms.


At this meeting, the two companies reviewed the progress of joint projects such as the HD Hyundai Mipo shipblock robot simulation and the Siemens Marine platform at HD Hyundai Samho, and discussed future strategies.

HD Hyundai Mipo plans to introduce various robots and automation equipment by 2025. To conduct pre-verification and effectiveness analysis, they are working with Siemens on virtual factory simulation and data integration. HD Hyundai aims to establish an intelligent autonomous operation shipyard by 2030 and is expanding digital twin technology collaboration with other companies.


An HD Hyundai official stated, "Through digital manufacturing innovation, we will set new standards in the shipbuilding industry and create synergy by cooperating with various industrial sectors."


Attending the technical council meeting were Kim Hyung-kwan, President of HD Hyundai Mipo; Jeon Seung-ho, Vice President of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries; Jang Kwang-pil, Vice President of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore; and Ahn Oh-min, Executive Director of HD Hyundai Samho.
