The Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Small and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture, Fisheries, and Livestock Industries signed a business agreement on the 19th at the Seoul Station Airport Railroad conference room with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, HK Innoen Co., Ltd., Korea Maritime Institute, and the Korea Central Federation of Coastal Fishermen's Associations to promote the 'Non-face-to-face Medical Service Island Doctor Project' for residents of island and fishing village areas.
The Non-face-to-face Medical Service Island Doctor Project aims to provide remote medical services using smartphones and other devices to approximately 10,000 fishery workers on 100 inhabited islands nationwide where access to urban medical facilities is inconvenient. This initiative seeks to prevent emergencies and medical blind spots and to establish a continuous medical service system.
A total of 250 million KRW from the Rural and Fishing Village Win-Win Cooperation Fund, established through contributions from the Cooperation Foundation and Innoen, will be invested in the project, which will run for about five months from next month through December. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, KMI, and the Coastal Fishermen's Federation participating in the agreement will be responsible for overall project management, consulting and project evaluation, and project execution.
Kim Young-hwan, Secretary General of the Cooperation Foundation, said, "With this agreement, we expect to resolve the medical blind spots in island areas and enable fishery workers to receive better medical services."
