The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) will hold the "Digital New Technology Utilization ABM Student Camp" at the Busan Education Research and Information Institute on the 20th, targeting 84 elementary, middle, and high school students.
ABM refers to new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and Metaverse.
This camp, now in its second year, aims to create a digital educational environment and foster problem-solving skills using new technologies in line with the "2022 Revised Curriculum."
Since the 17th, the Office of Education has conducted online pre-lectures through its self-operated AI education platform "B-MOOC" and text analysis platform "Busan EduBig" website, and will operate the camp in-person on the 20th.
The participating teams include 9 elementary (Metaverse) teams, 5 special (Metaverse) teams, 5 middle school (Big Data) teams, and 10 high school (AI) teams, totaling 29 teams. Each team will engage in team project activities according to their respective camp themes.
The elementary and special teams will participate in camp activities under the theme "Creating a Beautiful Busan with Minecraft Code Builder," while the middle school teams will work on "Diagnosing and Finding Solutions to Urban Issues in Busan by Comparing with Other Regions."
The high school teams will participate under the theme "Creating a Promotional Video for Busan Using Generative AI / Copilot Technology."
The Office of Education will select outstanding teams in each division based on the camp results and present awards, and all participants will receive souvenirs.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, said, "Through this camp, our students will be able to develop communication and problem-solving skills by communicating and collaborating with their teammates," adding, "The Office of Education will take the lead in enhancing students' digital capabilities by expanding education related to new technologies."
The Busan Office of Education is also operating programs such as the "Teacher-Student SW/AI Class Project" and "Teacher Research Group" to enhance not only students' but also teachers' capabilities in utilizing new technologies.
