Resolving the Recruitment Shortage in Secondary Battery Material Industry

Creating Stable and Quality Jobs for Young Talent

Gwangyang City in Jeonnam announced on the 18th that it signed a business agreement for customized local talent development and recruitment in accordance with the designation of the Gwangyang Bay Area Secondary Battery Opportunity Development Special Zone at the city hall reception room.


Jung In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, Park Hee-seok, CEO of POSCO Lithium Solution Co., Ltd., and Seo Seong-gi, CEO of the Gwangyang Bay Area Workforce Development Project Group, along with other related officials attending the agreement ceremony, united their intentions to resolve the labor shortage of secondary battery material industry companies and create high-quality and stable jobs for local young talents.

With this agreement, POSCO Lithium Solution Co., Ltd. agreed to cooperate in hiring local youth by giving additional points to graduates of the "Secondary Battery Material Related Workforce Development Project" during future recruitment stages. Meanwhile, the Gwangyang Bay Area Workforce Development Project Group, which has been providing education on industrial new technology information and related job skills, pledged to further strengthen customized workforce development for companies.


Gwangyang City will also spare no effort in administrative and financial support, such as expanding job support projects to cultivate customized talents required by companies in line with this initiative.


Meanwhile, since the designation of the Gwangyang Bay Area Secondary Battery Opportunity Development Special Zone on June 20, investment by secondary battery-related companies has surged, rapidly positioning Gwangyang City as a hub for the secondary battery material industry. The talent recruitment agreement signed amid this trend is expected to serve as a catalyst not only for creating high-quality customized jobs but also for fostering future new industries.


Mayor Jung In-hwa of Gwangyang said, "This is a very meaningful occasion where we cooperate to nurture excellent local talents so that they can find employment in solid companies, and I am grateful for this." He added, "I hope that the local community and companies will continue to pool all their capabilities together for mutual growth and development."
