Inspection of Beaches and Annual Experience Activity Sites
On the 18th, Kwon Oh-seong, Chief of the Mokpo Coast Guard, visited Hampyeong Dolmeori Beach, Seokdu Fishing Village Experience Center, and Muan Holtong Beach to inspect the condition of safety management facilities and the emergency preparedness of on-site personnel in observance of "Coastal Safety Day."
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard on the 18th, the third week of July, which includes Coastal Safety Day, is designated as Coastal Safety Inspection Week. During this period, on-site inspections are conducted targeting local beaches, coastal experience activity sites, and coastal accident risk areas.

Coastal Safety Day was established following a major marine accident in Taean, Chungnam, in 2013, which resulted in multiple casualties. The "Coastal Accident Prevention Act" was enacted, and July 18th was designated annually as "Coastal Safety Day" to raise safety awareness and conduct safety inspections.
In particular, on the 15th and 16th, a "Visiting Coastal Safety Classroom" was held for about 200 kindergarten students in the Mokpo area. Activities to promote marine safety culture will continue throughout the peak water recreation season.
Chief Kwon said, "We will strengthen on-site inspections and immediate rescue readiness so that the public can safely use beaches and coastal experience activity sites," adding, "To prevent drowning and isolation accidents, we strongly urge wearing life jackets during coastal activities."
The Mokpo Coast Guard is expected to continue its efforts to ensure and enhance safety along the coastline.
