First in the Nation to Open, Specialized Facility Operation Contributing to Public Health Promotion
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, held the inauguration ceremony of the Wando Marine Healing Management Corporation on the 17th, announcing its start as the nation’s first public enterprise related to marine healing both domestically and internationally.
According to the county on the 18th, the inauguration ceremony was prepared to commemorate the official launch of the Wando Marine Healing Management Corporation, established to professionally operate marine healing facilities and strengthen the competitiveness of the marine healing industry.
On this day, various figures attended, including County Governor Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Council Chairman Kim Yang-hoon, county council members, provincial council members, and non-executive directors of the Wando Marine Healing Management Corporation.

To establish the corporation, Wando-gun enacted the ordinance on the establishment and operation of the Wando Marine Healing Management Corporation in December last year and completed the registration of the corporation in March this year.
In February, the corporation appointed its chairman and non-executive directors and ratified its articles of incorporation and regulations. In June, it conducted a pilot operation, and on the 1st of this month, held an appointment ceremony for new employees, establishing a system for operating the healing facilities.
The Wando Marine Healing Corporation will manage and operate four facilities: the Wando Marine Healing Center, the Climate Healing Center, the Cultural Healing Center, and the Wando Tower, which were the first of their kind to open in Korea. The corporation’s organization consists of four teams, including the management support team, with 12 general staff and 25 public employees.
Chairman Lee Chae-bin expressed his aspirations, saying, “The Wando Marine Healing Center is the nation’s first comprehensive facility operating marine healing programs. We will do our best to enhance technological capabilities in the healing field and ensure financial stability through efficient operation to promote public health.”
Governor Shin Woo-cheol, in his congratulatory remarks, said, “The marine healing industry is a new industry that can drive the development of our region. Going forward, the Wando Marine Healing Management Corporation will play a leading role in solidly advancing the marine healing industry.” He added, “I hope Wando’s marine healing becomes a global healing trend beyond Korea.”
Meanwhile, to commemorate the launch, the corporation operated a ‘Visiting Marine Healing Program’ by visiting village halls and senior centers to realize community contribution and sharing values, receiving positive responses from residents.
