Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) has taken the first step in the ‘Public-Private Cooperation ChakChakChak (Good Seo-gu, Good Company, Good Partnership) Project’ with KCC Corporation.
On the 18th, Seo-gu announced that it signed a business agreement for the ‘Good Cool Roof’ project with KCC Corporation at the Seo-gu Office Nanum Hall the previous day to spread positive influence in the local community and promote mutual growth.
The ‘Good Cool Roof’ is an eco-friendly project that lowers the indoor temperature of buildings by painting roofs with heat-reflective paint, protecting vulnerable groups from the summer heat and improving energy efficiency.

To this end, Seo-gu will discover and recommend facilities used by energy-vulnerable groups, provide administrative support and monitoring, while KCC promises to support the application of high-performance heat-reflective paint.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “I hope this project will expand as a model case where good companies fulfill their social responsibilities in the community,” and added, “We will continue to create an environment where all Seo-gu residents can enjoy a happy life through ongoing cooperation with good companies like KCC.”
Meanwhile, Seo-gu is promoting good policies based on the sharing spirit of Hoejae Park Gwangok, a symbol of Korean-style noblesse oblige, and the solidarity spirit of the May 18th rice ball movement by merchants of Yangdong Market, including ▲the nation’s first family care youth allowance payment ▲the Cheonwon Guksi project, which creates jobs and spreads sharing through a bowl of noodles.
