LX Hausys Sorijam Flooring Wins 'Carbon Neutral Winner Award'

LX Hausys announced on the 18th that ‘LX Z:IN (LX Jiin) Flooring Sorijam’ won the ‘Carbon Neutral Winner Award’ at the ‘27th Energy Winner Awards of the Year’.

Started in 1997, the ‘Energy Winner Awards of the Year’ is hosted by the Citizens’ Coalition for Economic Justice and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment. It is broadly divided into two categories: the ‘Energy Winner Award,’ which selects technologies or products with excellent energy-saving effects, and the ‘Carbon Neutral Winner Award,’ which is given to companies and products with outstanding achievements in carbon neutrality activities.

‘Sorijam’ is a PVC sheet flooring with lightweight impact sound reduction function for everyday life. It was recognized for its achievement in reducing carbon emissions during the manufacturing process and became the first in the domestic flooring industry to receive the ‘Carbon Neutral Winner Award’ this time.

The detailed product items of the ‘Sorijam’ flooring that received the Carbon Neutral Winner Award this time are ‘Jia Sorijam 4.5T’ and ‘Sorijam 4.5T/6.0T,’ which are supplied not only to the B2C market but also to construction sites.

First, ‘Sorijam’ reduced carbon emissions by an average of about 10% compared to existing product lines through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the entire product manufacturing process, and reduced fuel and energy consumption required for manufacturing through investments in boilers and insulation facilities at production plants and innovative manufacturing process activities.

It uses a foaming agent that does not destroy the ozone layer, and follows a manufacturing method considering the environment and resource circulation by reinjecting scraps generated during the product production process into the process or recycling products that are not used at construction sites and are collected.

Meanwhile, ‘Sorijam’ holds eco-friendly related certifications such as ‘Low Carbon Product Certification,’ ‘Environmental Product Declaration,’ and ‘Eco-label’ due to reasons such as carbon emission reduction and reduction of harmful substances, contributing to the expansion of the government’s green building certification system for buildings.

In addition, LX Hausys is also engaged in social contribution by donating ‘Sorijam’ products through the public-private cooperative ‘Green Early Childhood Space Conversion Support Project’ and Gangwon Province’s ‘Gangwon Emergency Maternal Safety Stay Support Project.’

An LX Hausys official said, “With this ‘Carbon Neutral Winner Award,’ the trust in the environmentally friendly characteristics and carbon emission reduction effect of Sorijam flooring has been further enhanced,” adding, “As ethical consumption is gaining attention in the domestic interior market, we expect great interest from consumers.”
