Detailed Addresses Assigned Ex Officio to 109 Houses
Gijang-gun, Busan, has recently assigned detailed street addresses to multi-family residences and similar buildings by official authority and completed the free installation of detailed address signboards.
The detailed address system assigns building, floor, and unit numbers to properties such as studio apartments and multi-family residences, allowing them to be used as legal addresses.
Studio apartments and multi-family residences often do not have detailed addresses assigned, while commercial and office buildings frequently use only business names. This makes it difficult to identify specific addresses and has led to issues such as returned or lost mail.
In response, the district conducted a basic survey starting in May and officially assigned detailed addresses to 109 studio and multi-family residences without such addresses. The installation of detailed street address signboards was completed in June.
The newly installed signboards are comprehensive guides attached to the main entrances of buildings, listing the detailed addresses of all units within each building.
The installation of these signboards is expected to resolve address blind spots by ensuring accurate and convenient mail delivery, and to prevent disadvantages for residents caused by undeliverable mail.
District Mayor Jeong Jongbok stated, "With the assignment of detailed addresses and installation of signboards, residents and address users can now use street addresses more easily and conveniently. We will actively support the establishment of street addresses in everyday life by encouraging greater public interest through various promotional activities."
