Seoul Gangseo-gu Holds Resident Briefing on Environmental Impact Assessment for Daejang Hongdae Line Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, is giving a greeting at the 'Daechang Hongdae Line Environmental Impact Assessment Report (Draft) Resident Briefing' held at the Gangseo Community Center. Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 17th that it held the 'Daejang-Hongdae Line Environmental Impact Assessment (Draft) Resident Briefing Session' at the Gangseo-gu Community Center to gather residents' opinions.


The Daejang-Hongdae Line is a metropolitan railway with a total length of 20.101 km, starting from Daejang New Town in Bucheon City, passing through Hwagok-dong and Gayang-dong in Gangseo-gu, and ending at Hongdae Entrance in Mapo-gu. The entire section will be underground with a total of 12 stations, and three stations will be located in Gangseo-gu near Hwagok Station, Gangseo-gu Office, and Gayang Station. The goal is to open in 2031.


This resident briefing session was held in accordance with Article 31 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act to collect residents' opinions on the data that investigates, predicts, and evaluates the environmental impact of the project in advance.


During the briefing, potential soil, water, and air pollution, flora and fauna ecology, noise and vibration that may occur during the project implementation were predicted, and corresponding mitigation measures were presented. Seobu Metropolitan Metro Co., Ltd., the project implementer that hosted the briefing, plans to submit the environmental impact assessment report reflecting residents' opinions to the Ministry of Environment.


About 100 people, including Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon, environmental groups, and local residents, attended the briefing. Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "The Daejang-Hongdae Line, which had been stalled for over 10 years due to differences in opinions among local governments, has gained momentum as it passed the private investment project review," and added, "The district office will do its best to ensure the project proceeds smoothly as planned."
