Yangsan City and Local District Lawmaker Aides Hold Policy Meeting

Discussion on Resolving Local Issues and Securing Key National Budget Projects for Next Year

Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held a policy meeting at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building in Yeouido on the 18th to join forces with local National Assembly members’ aides in resolving major local issues and securing next year’s national budget.

This meeting was the first official encounter between the city and local constituency offices since the opening of the 22nd National Assembly. Ten aides from the two Yangsan constituency offices and about ten related public officials, including Yangsan City’s Special Policy Advisor Han Jeongwoo, attended the meeting.


During the policy meeting, discussions were held on 15 major local issues and 13 national budget projects. The city requested active interest and cooperation to ensure that Yangsan’s key projects are reflected in the national budget and to address pending local challenges.


Key issues discussed included: completion of the Hwangsan Park complex leisure project, Yangsan Jeungsan District urban development project, elevation of Local Road 1028 to a national road, creation of the Yangsan Arboretum, promotion of the installation of the Yangsan Sasong Hi-Pass IC (bidirectional), and construction of the Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan metropolitan railway.


The city also requested the National Assembly members’ offices for strong interest and cooperation in resolving other major issues, such as: upgrading the Ungsang Health Branch to a health center to address medical service gaps in eastern Yangsan, proposing an increase in standard labor costs to resolve shortages in public servant staffing and wages, promoting the advancement of core industries and systematic fostering of new growth industries for regional industrial innovation, attracting public institutions, securing special grants, and addressing key local projects.


Discussions also continued on major projects requiring national funding support in 2025.


The city emphasized the need for national budget allocation totaling 146.8 billion KRW for 13 projects, including the installation of the Nammulgeum Hi-Pass IC reflecting the comprehensive development plan for areas surrounding USFK bases, construction of the Yangsan Urban Railway, Nakdong Sunset Bike Project, undergrounding project around Deokgye Elementary School, and establishment of the Natural Products Safety Management Center. They also discussed support and response measures at the National Assembly level.


Kim Kyungsook, Director of Planning and Budget, said, “Collaboration between the city and the National Assembly is more important than ever to advance Yangsan’s key projects and secure the necessary national budget. We will do our best to meet frequently, share issues, and build a close cooperation system going forward.”


Mayor Na Dongyeon, marking the halfway point of his second year in office on the 15th and 16th, visited central government ministries such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to request budget support and cooperation for the smooth promotion and resolution of key local projects. On the 23rd, he plans to hold a meeting with local National Assembly members Yoon Youngseok and Kim Taeho to request their active interest and support for securing the 2025 national budget and ensuring the smooth progress of major city projects.
