At 7:07 a.m. on the 17th, a fire broke out in an apartment in Gajwa-dong, Jinju, Gyeongnam Province, prompting dozens of residents to evacuate urgently.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched after a resident reported seeing smoke coming from a second-floor window. They mobilized 44 personnel and 13 pieces of equipment, extinguishing the fire completely by 7:31 a.m.
The fire burned about half of the affected unit, including home appliances and furniture, resulting in property damage estimated at approximately 16 million won by the fire department.
Fortunately, there were no residents in the unit at the time, so no casualties occurred.
Of the approximately 60 residents from neighboring units who evacuated, 10 inhaled smoke but received emergency treatment at the scene.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire based on on-site inspections.
