Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will operate a traditional Korean craft and tea meditation education program for adults in the area at the Siheung Haenggung Exhibition Hall during the summer vacation season.
The program was prepared to provide an opportunity to experience the Confucian virtues of filial piety (효, Hyo), etiquette (예, Ye), and art from the Joseon Dynasty, as well as to learn about the historical value of 'Siheung Haenggung,' where King Jeongjo stayed overnight during his royal procession to Hwaseong.
From July 30 to August 21, the program will be held every Tuesday with four sessions of traditional Korean craft experiences and every Wednesday with four sessions of tea meditation experiences, each lasting two hours from 10 a.m., totaling eight sessions.
Before the experience, participants will tour the Siheung Haenggung Exhibition Hall and receive explanations about the historical and cultural significance of Siheung Haenggung and King Jeongjo’s royal procession.
The traditional Korean craft experience will be conducted under the theme "King Jeongjo’s Wishes Sewn Stitch by Stitch." The sessions include ▲1st session: Fish keyring (7/30) ▲2nd session: Turtle knot bracelet (8/6) ▲3rd session: Traditional pouch (Durujumeoni) (8/13) ▲4th session: Gwebul Norigae (8/20), allowing participants to create traditional crafts from the Joseon Dynasty.
The tea meditation experience will be held under the theme "Tea Filled with the Fragrance of Peach Blossoms." Participants will learn tea ceremony etiquette, enjoy fragrant tea, experience family harmony, and engage in meditation to learn about King Jeongjo’s spirit of filial piety and etiquette, realizing the importance of family.
Applications will be accepted via text message starting from the 17th, with a first-come, first-served limit of 15 participants per session. The traditional craft sessions will be held on 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, and 8/20, and the tea meditation sessions on 7/31, 8/7, 8/14, and 8/21.
