[One Day Walk] A Pilgrimage Path Blending History and Nature... Bukhansan Dullegil Course 2

The Bukhansan Dullegil Course 2 is a route of about 2.3 km that starts from the upper part of Solbat Neighborhood Park in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, and leads to the grave site of martyr Lee Jun. It takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes to walk. This is the second course among the 21 courses of the 'Bukhansan Dullegil' operated by Bukhansan National Park since September 2010. The Bukhansan Dullegil is a low-altitude horizontal walking trail created by connecting and refining existing side paths, allowing for a gentle walk along the foothills of Bukhansan.

The name of this course is the 'Pilgrimage Path' where freedom, democracy, and justice breathe. It is a section where the graves of independence patriots are located, allowing visitors to feel the indomitable spirit of our ancestors' independence. It features a natural-friendly bridge called Seopdari, which embodies the wisdom of our ancestors, and a valley rest area, blending history and nature.

Access to the course begins at Exit 2 of 4.19 Minjoo Cemetery Station on the Ui-Sinseol Line of the Seoul Subway. Walking about 300 meters straight ahead, you will reach Solbat Neighborhood Park, the starting point of the course. Following the ridge, you will arrive at the National 4.19 Democratic Cemetery. This site is the resting place of 224 people who sacrificed their lives during the April 19 Revolution in 1960. The cemetery grounds are decorated with pine trees, junipers, yews, and maple trees.

Passing the memorial space, you will soon find the patriotic martyrs' graveyard, which includes the Joint Tomb of the Liberation Army and the grave of Mr. Lee Si-young. The Joint Tomb of the Liberation Army was the site where 17 members of the Korean Liberation Army who died fighting for independence during the Japanese colonial period were enshrined. However, all the remains were relocated to the National Daejeon Cemetery in early August 2022, ahead of the 77th Liberation Day. Currently, only a guide post marking the site of the Joint Tomb of the Liberation Army, a tombstone called the Liberation Army Patriotic Martyrs' Grave, and some sculptures remain.

Next to the Joint Tomb of the Liberation Army is the grave of Seongjae Lee Si-young, an independence activist and politician. The grave is located in the central part of the independence patriots' graveyard in Bukhansan National Park, Seoul. He was the first vice president and came from a prestigious family enjoying power and wealth, but after Japan took away national sovereignty, he sold all his property and went into exile in Manchuria to engage in the independence movement.
