Strengthening Community-Based Customized Dementia Care
Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 17th that its project, "Exciting! Colorful! Dementia Safe Village," was finally selected in the Dementia Safe Village Excellent Leading Project contest hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The Dementia Safe Village Excellent Leading Project was promoted to help community members properly understand dementia and to create a dementia-friendly environment aimed at improving the quality of life for dementia patients and their families and reducing caregiving burdens.
With this project selection, Goheung-gun plans to implement various programs from August to December in Bongam-ri, Doyang-eup, a dementia safe village, to foster a community atmosphere living together with dementia patients. These programs include external cultural experience activities such as "Exciting Movie Walk" and diverse sensory stimulation activities like craft and cooking classes.
A health center official stated, "We will continue to do our best to improve awareness of dementia through various dementia management projects tailored to local characteristics and to create a dementia-friendly environment where dementia patients, families, and local residents live together."
In addition, the Goheung-gun Dementia Safety Center is conducting projects to alleviate the burdens of elderly dementia patients, including support for dementia examination fees, dementia treatment management fees, and care supplies.
