At the meeting, attended by 16 council members including Kim Ki-hong, Deputy Mayor of Gwangyang City and chairman of the council, discussions were held regarding the designation of "Gwangyang Port Day" and the attraction of automobile transshipment cargo.

The designation of "Gwangyang Port Day" is a measure to raise public awareness of the port industry, which plays a central role in the regional economy. The meeting discussed whether to designate the day and the date, concluding that the final decision will be made after gathering opinions from citizens and port workers.

Regarding the attraction of automobile transshipment cargo, discussions were held on methods to secure sites for automobile transshipment cargo yards. Various site acquisition plans raised during the meeting will be reviewed and further discussed at the next meeting.

Kim Ki-hong, Deputy Mayor of Gwangyang City, stated, "For Gwangyang Port to gain competitiveness, the roles of Gwangyang City and the port authority are important, and cooperation and efforts from port-related organizations and companies are essential. We will actively strive to exchange opinions through the council and find effective solutions."
