At around 10:40 p.m. on the 16th, two 25-ton cargo trucks collided near the Munsan Interchange (IC) on the Namhae Expressway in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, in the direction of Suncheon.
According to the Highway Patrol Division 6 of the South Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency on the 17th, a wing-body cargo truck traveling in the fourth lane hit a cargo truck ahead of it.
Due to the accident, about 20 tons of parcel boxes from the wing-body truck and two coils weighing 10 and 12 tons from the cargo truck were spilled onto the road, and vehicle movement near the accident site was restricted until around 3 a.m. on the 17th.
The driver of the wing-body truck, a man in his 40s identified as Mr. A, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The police believe the accident was caused by the wing-body truck driver's failure to pay attention to the road ahead and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
