Ulsan Office of Education Introduces Permanent Illegal Filming Detection System in Restrooms

14 Women's Restrooms Installed in Vulnerable Areas

Crime Prevention Enhanced with Simultaneous Detector Inspections

Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) will be the first among metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide to introduce a "real-time illegal filming detection system" in the women's restrooms at the city office.

The real-time illegal filming detection system uses thermal imaging sensors installed in each restroom stall to detect abnormal heat sources from illegal filming devices in real time.

The Ulsan Office of Education is introducing this system to strengthen crime prevention in restrooms.

This month, seven units will be installed in the women's restroom on the basement floor, and next year, an additional seven units will be installed on the first floor to provide 24-hour surveillance in vulnerable areas without access control systems.

Until now, the Ulsan Office of Education has conducted semiannual inspections with detection devices each year in accordance with the "Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education Restroom Illegal Filming Prevention Ordinance." No illegal filming devices have been found in restrooms during these inspections.

Going forward, the Ulsan Office of Education plans to continue semiannual inspections with detection devices in addition to the real-time illegal filming detection system.

In particular, this month, one additional surveillance camera (CCTV) will be installed in the open area outside the basement floor to prevent crime and to enable a swift response in case of incidents.

An official from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, "We will thoroughly inspect every corner to create a safe environment so that both visitors and staff can use the office with peace of mind."
