"Even a 200 Won Fee Is Expensive"... Places to Get Certified Copies and Extracts Issued for Free

Yongsan-gu Offers Free Issuance of 12 Popular Civil Complaints
Resident Registration Certificates and Copies Account for 72% of Usage

"Even a 200 Won Fee Is Expensive"... Places to Get Certified Copies and Extracts Issued for Free Yongsan-gu will waive the civil service fees for 12 types of unmanned civil service issuance machines starting this month. Provided by Yongsan-gu.

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) has been providing 12 types of frequently requested civil documents, such as resident registration certificates and extracts, free of charge at unmanned civil service kiosks in the area starting this month.

This measure aims to ensure fairness with non-face-to-face civil services like the online 'Government24' service and to reduce waiting times at civil service counters, thereby offering higher quality civil services.

The documents exempt from fees when using the unmanned civil service kiosks include ▲two types of resident registration certificates and extracts ▲two types of family relation certificates and extracts ▲two types of closed family relation certificates ▲two types of basic certificates and closed basic certificates ▲two types of marriage relation certificates and closed marriage relation certificates ▲two types of adoption relation certificates and closed adoption relation certificates, totaling 12 types.

The 12 types of documents that have become free were previously subject to fees ranging from 200 to 500 KRW at the unmanned kiosks. Previously, a 50% discount was provided when using the kiosks.

These 12 types account for 72% of the 122 types of certificates issued at the unmanned kiosks. According to last year’s data, fees collected from these 12 types made up 90.5% of the total fees collected.

Free civil documents can be obtained at 24 unmanned civil service kiosks installed and operated at locations including the district office, community service centers, Soonchunhyang Hospital, Yongsan Station, and Yongsan Tax Office. One unmanned kiosk dedicated to the court (issuing corporate seal certificates, corporate registration certificates, and real estate registration certificates) installed on the 2nd floor of the district office’s comprehensive civil service room is excluded from the fee exemption.

District Mayor Park Hee-young stated, “We expect high satisfaction among residents as even elderly people who are not familiar with online services can obtain frequently requested civil documents free of charge,” and added, “We will continue to seek ways to enhance resident convenience and improve satisfaction with administrative services.”
