'Sister Golfer' Go Ji-woo, World Ranking Rises from 175th to 126th

‘Sister golfer’ Go Ji-woo has risen to 126th in the world rankings.

In the women's golf weekly world rankings announced on the 15th (local time), she earned 0.96 points, jumping 49 places from 175th last week. She accumulated points by winning the KLPGA Tour High1 Resort Women's Open (total prize money 1 billion KRW) held the day before at High1 Resort Country Club in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province (par 72, 6,568 yards) with a score of 19 under par 269. Since debuting on the KLPGA Tour in 2022, she claimed her first victory last July at the McCol·Mona Yongpyong Open, and this is her second career win in a year, with a winner's prize of 180 million KRW.

Go Ji-woo is a ‘sister golfer’ playing on the KLPGA Tour alongside her younger sister Go Ji-won. A former national team reserve, she ranked 2nd in rookie points on the 2022 KLPGA Tour. Behind her cute smile, she is known for her powerful long drives and aggressive play, earning the nickname ‘Birdie Bomber.’ This year, she ranks 14th in prize money (335,976,008 KRW), 16th in points for the Player of the Year (137 points), and 22nd in scoring average (71.21 strokes).

Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu (both from the USA), and Ko Jin-young held the top three positions. Lin Xiying (China) rose one spot to 4th, pushing Yang Hee-young to 5th. Ayaka Furue (Japan), who won last week’s LPGA major Amundi Evian Championship, jumped 13 places to 8th. South Korea’s Kim Hyo-joo is 13th, Yoo Hae-ran 22nd, Shin Ji-ae 28th, Lee Ye-won 30th, and Park Hyun-kyung is in 34th place.
