The 'Urban Master Plan' is the highest-level statutory urban plan that incorporates the contents of higher-level plans such as the National Comprehensive Plan and Metropolitan Urban Plan, presenting the desirable future vision that the city should aim for and outlining long-term development directions. It is a 20-year plan revised every five years. Pyeongtaek City's urban management plans and sectoral plans are established according to the Urban Master Plan.
The city proposed 'an inclusive cultural city with balanced development alongside future industries' as its future vision through the operation of a citizen planning group and a survey of residents' awareness. To achieve this, it introduced three main goals: ▲a balanced city ▲a city with strong resilience ▲a city pursuing inclusive values, along with nine major implementation strategies. The city set a planned population of 1,077,000, reflecting natural and social population growth, and explained the urban spatial structure and living zone plans.
Jung Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek, said, "As this urban plan targets Pyeongtaek's growth over the next 20 years alongside future industries, we will promote it to grow into a sustainable city by reflecting diverse and innovative opinions from citizens."
