The city added that it covered the entire project cost of 500 million KRW required for the installation with a special grant of 500 million KRW from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, reducing the financial burden on the city. The city plans to continuously secure budgets for expanding CCTV installations through cooperation with various institutions.
Meanwhile, Osan City currently has 2,563 crime prevention CCTVs installed. The city has applied an intelligent video surveillance system to maximize monitoring effectiveness and, through 24-hour video monitoring by control personnel, has detected over 15,000 abnormal signs. In this process, it also achieved over 250 crime scene arrests, including cases of drunk driving and theft.
Lee Gwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "We will continue to expand crime prevention CCTVs to eliminate blind spots in safety and create a better city to live in."
