At the meeting, experts including Professor Seo Dong-min from the Department of Social Welfare at Baekseok University, Kim Eun-jin, Director of the Jeonnam Western Elderly Protection Agency, and Lim Young-hee, Head of the Hope Welfare Support Team in Naju City, participated as professional committee members.

The attendees focused on exploring customized intervention and support plans tailored to the characteristics of each dementia household case.

In particular, they agreed on the need to expand the social support system for dementia households in crisis?such as ‘dementia patients with alcohol dependence symptoms exhibiting behavioral problems like verbal abuse and threats toward their spouse’ and ‘households struggling with property management due to illiteracy’?by linking them with support organizations like the Alcohol Addiction Center and Home-based Elderly Support Service Center.

They also discussed effective support measures for independence, including property management and welfare service applications through the public guardianship system.

A representative from the Naju Dementia Safety Center stated, “There were difficulties in prioritizing cases when managing high-difficulty dementia patients, but through this meeting, we were able to find more professional and effective approaches and solutions. We plan to continue case management in the future by referring to the crisis household management plans derived from the meeting.”
