WSJ "Musk Donates 62.4 Billion Won Annually to Trump Super PAC"

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is reported to donate about $45 million (approximately 62.4 billion KRW) monthly to support former President Donald Trump, who is running for president, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 15th (local time).

WSJ cited sources saying that Musk plans to contribute this amount to a new political fundraising group Super PAC supporting former President Trump's presidential campaign.

Other backers of this group, called AmericaPAC, include Joe Ronsdale, co-founder of Palantir, the Winklevoss twins, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft, and her husband Joe Craft, CEO of Alliance Resource Partners. The Super PAC has raised $9 million (about 1.25 billion KRW) within a month of its establishment and has spent $15 million (about 2.08 billion KRW) on former President Trump's campaign in recent weeks, drawing attention.

Musk had not donated to the Super PAC until June 30. In March, he stated he would not donate to any U.S. presidential candidate. However, according to sources, Musk plans to start donating from this month.

The largest known political donation in this U.S. presidential election so far is $50 million contributed to the Super PAC by the great-grandson of banker Thomas Mellon.

On the 13th, after former President Trump was shot during a campaign event, Musk expressed support, saying, "The last time the U.S. had such a strong candidate was Theodore Roosevelt."
