All Together Without Isolation in Mapo-gu... Forming Alliances by District

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) Silppuri Welfare Companion Center is joining hands with local welfare centers to create a Mapo without isolation.

As of the end of March this year, the proportion of single-person households in Mapo-gu is 48.5% (88,235 people) and has been increasing annually. In particular, the number of single-person households aged 50 and over, who are at high risk of isolation, reaches 27,966.

Accordingly, the district plans to enhance local welfare capacity through a three-tier cooperative governance system involving the district office, community offices, and welfare centers. Mapo-gu is divided into three zones covering 16 neighborhoods, with each zone’s Silppuri Welfare Companion Center and welfare institutions collaborating closely for more professional and systematic management of households at risk of isolation.

Zone 1 (Gongdeok, Ahyeon, Dohwa, Daehyeung, Hapjeong neighborhoods) will partner with the Sarangui Jeonhwa Mapo Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. Zone 2 (Seogyo, Yonggang, Yeomni, Sinsu, Seogang neighborhoods) will collaborate with the Yeomni Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Zone 3 (Seongsan 1, 2-dong; Mangwon 1, 2-dong; Yeonnam-dong; Sangam-dong) will work with the Seongsan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Mapo Disabled Persons Comprehensive Welfare Center.

Through the “Together as One” project, the Mapo-gu Silppuri Welfare Companion Centers and welfare centers will hold regular meetings to jointly carry out projects such as ▲ understanding and sharing local field situations ▲ reflecting welfare demands (needs) ▲ discussing measures to prevent solitary deaths and support households at risk of isolation ▲ strengthening the capacity of personnel ▲ and providing on-site consulting.

To this end, on the 11th, Mapo-gu held a “Together as One, Visiting Agreement Ceremony” at the Seongsan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, attended by all cooperative institutions from the three zones. Following Zone 3, Zones 1 and 2 are scheduled to complete their business agreements by July.

The district expects that the “Together as One” project will strengthen the social safety net by enabling rapid identification and sharing of households at risk of isolation through the network and information capabilities of the Companion Centers and welfare institutions, and by exploring support measures based on expertise.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “To deliver welfare as closely knit as roots to each resident, the interest and role of local welfare institutions and neighbors are truly important. Mapo-gu will do its best to create a Mapo where no one is left out and everyone lives together in harmony.”
