David Lammy, the UK Foreign Secretary, visited Israel and called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
On the 15th (local time), according to foreign media, Lammy stated during his visit to Israel, "I have come here to call for a ceasefire," adding, "The loss of life over the past few months has been tremendous and must stop."
He emphasized, "It is important that the war is conducted in accordance with international humanitarian law," and said, "I will pressure Israeli leaders on this issue."
He also pointed out that despite months of requests, British aid trucks carrying humanitarian relief supplies have not been able to enter the Gaza Strip sufficiently.
On the day before his visit to Israel, Lammy remarked, "The death and destruction in the Gaza Strip are at an unbearable level."
During his visit, Lammy met separately with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, in Jerusalem, and with Mohammad Mustafa, the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, in Ramallah in the West Bank.
