The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (Gongsoocheo) excluded prosecutors who had previously defended Lee Jong-ho, former CEO of Black Pearl Investment and an accomplice in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, from the investigation.
On the 15th, Gongsoocheo stated, "After reviewing the reasons for recusal requests, the prosecutors who voluntarily requested recusal were excluded from the investigation into the Marine Corps investigation pressure case and were transferred to other departments."
Previously, Prosecutor A, who was investigating allegations of investigation pressure in the case of the death of Marine Corps Corporal Chae, voluntarily requested recusal due to having defended former CEO Lee, an accomplice in the Deutsche Motors case, in 2021. Prosecutor B, a senior prosecutor from the same law firm, also submitted a recusal request.
