Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok on the 15th ordered a thorough investigation into so-called 'cyber wreckers' YouTubers in connection with the threat case against YouTuber 'Jjuyang'.
General Lee defined cyber wreckers as malicious content posters and stated, "Closely cooperate with the police to respond strictly, and make every effort to recover criminal proceeds and protect victims."
He ordered active detention and investigation in cases where false content was intentionally posted for profit generation or repeated continuously, as well as cases where victims were threatened or extorted.
General Lee said, "Carefully analyze the criminal proceeds obtained from advertisements, fundraising, etc., thoroughly track them, and recover the identified criminal proceeds by utilizing confiscation, provisional seizure, and civil lawsuits according to laws and regulations."
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office emphasized, "The actions of malicious content posters are means for making money such as profit generation, yet they are disguised under the pretext of public interest or private sanctions, causing serious harm to victims and families of crimes such as sexual violence and defamation. Punishment of criminals and protection of victims must be carried out within the judicial system according to laws. Private sanctions cause secondary damage and infringe on the victim's right to be forgotten."
