[Tomorrow's Weather] Mostly 'Cloudy' Nationwide... Gusts and Thunder Showers in Some Areas

Influence of stationary front, showers in southern regions and Jeju

On Monday the 15th, the skies across the country are forecast to be cloudy. In some areas, showers accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning are expected.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 14th, the 15th will be mostly cloudy nationwide, with rain expected in the southern regions and Jeju Island. Between 3 to 6 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m., occasional rain will fall in Gangwon Yeongdong, and from the afternoon to nighttime, showers of about 5 to 40 mm will occur in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, and the Chungcheong region depending on the location.

In particular, due to the influence of the stationary front, the southern regions and Jeju Island are forecast to experience showers along with gusty winds, thunder, and lightning. If you hear thunder or notice large raindrops starting to fall, you should quickly evacuate to a safe place. Visibility may suddenly decrease, and roads may become slippery or flooded, so special caution is required for traffic safety.

The expected rainfall over the two days until the 15th is ▲Gangwon Yeongdong 5?20 mm ▲Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Busan, Gyeongnam 20?60 mm ▲Ulsan, Daegu, Gyeongbuk 10?40 mm. Jeju Island is forecast to receive 30?80 mm of rain, with the southern part of Jeju, the southern mid-mountain areas, and mountainous regions possibly receiving over 100 mm.

Very heavy rain may fall late at night or early morning along the southern coast of Jeonnam, the western southern coast of Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island. Especially due to rain falling in valleys or upstream of rivers, water levels downstream may suddenly rise, so camping should be avoided. Since you could become isolated near riverbanks, it is best to avoid nearby walking trails or underground roads.

The lowest temperatures on the morning of the 15th are forecast to be 20?24°C, and the highest daytime temperatures 24?31°C. The highest temperatures by city are Seoul 31°C, Gangneung 24°C, Daejeon, Gwangju, Jeonju, Jeju 30°C, Daegu 28°C, and Busan 26°C. The perceived maximum temperature in the metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, and inland Chungcheong will rise to around 33°C.

Strong winds of 30?45 km/h are expected over the seas around Jeju Island, the eastern offshore waters of the western South Sea, and the inner eastern offshore waters of the South Sea. Waves will also be high, ranging from 1.0 to 3.0 meters.
