World Leaders Unite on Trump Shooting: "Violence Cannot Be Tolerated"

"Challenge to Democracy... Trump, Wishing for a Speedy Recovery"

Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally, prompting world leaders to condemn the act of terrorism one after another.


According to foreign media on the 14th, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "We must firmly stand against any form of violence that challenges democracy," and added, "I wish former President Trump a speedy recovery." Prime Minister Kishida himself was the victim of an explosive device attack in April last year.


United Nations Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres, through a spokesperson, stated, "We clearly condemn this political violence and wish Trump a swift recovery."

Western leaders, who had tense relations with former President Trump due to his pressure on NATO allies, also unanimously wished him a speedy recovery.


UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on X, "I was horrified by the shocking scene," adding, "No form of violence is tolerated in our society. My condolences go out to all the victims of this attack." French President Emmanuel Macron also wrote on social media, "I wish former President Trump, the victim of an assassination attempt, a speedy recovery," and stated, "This is a tragedy that has occurred to our democracy, and France shares the shock and anger of the American people."


European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed being "deeply shocked" by the incident and emphasized, "Political violence has no place in democracy." German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, "The attack on U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump is a despicable act. I wish him a speedy recovery," adding, "Such violence threatens democracy."


Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on X, "The shooting of former President Trump is disgusting," and added, "It cannot be emphasized enough that political violence is never acceptable." He also extended his condolences to former President Trump, those present at the event, and all Americans.


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, "(My wife) Sara and I are shocked by the clear attempt to attack President Trump," and said, "We pray for his safety and swift recovery." Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb?n also wrote on X, "My thoughts and prayers are with President Donald Trump during this dark time." Both Netanyahu and Orb?n have maintained close ties with former President Trump and are classified as pro-Trump.


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X, "I am deeply concerned about the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump," and stated, "I strongly condemn this incident. There is no place for violence in politics and democracy."


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X, "I was horrified to learn that former U.S. President Donald Trump was shot during a rally in Pennsylvania," adding, "Such violence cannot be justified and has no place anywhere in the world. Violence must never prevail."


Former President Trump was shot on the 13th (local time) during a presidential campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, sustaining a gunshot wound that pierced the upper part of his right ear. Bleeding from his ear, Trump was evacuated urgently, received emergency treatment after being confirmed safe at the hospital, and was discharged. The shooter, who fired from the roof of a building outside the secured area, was shot dead at the scene.
