Bitcoin Recovers to $60,000 After Trump Shooting... 'Increased Chances of Winning'

3.94% Increase Compared to 24 Hours Ago

Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, surged to the $60,000 level following news that former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was injured in a shooting during a campaign event on the 13th (local time).

As of 1:35 a.m. Eastern Time on the 14th (10:35 p.m. Pacific Time on the 13th), the price of one Bitcoin was trading at $60,173 (82.85 million KRW), up 3.94% compared to 24 hours earlier.

Earlier, Bitcoin was fluctuating in the $58,000 range when news of the shooting involving former President Trump caused it to jump immediately to the $59,000 range,

and then it reclaimed the $60,000 level for the first time in 11 days.

This rise in Bitcoin appears to be based on analysis that the shooting incident has increased the likelihood of former President Trump winning the upcoming November presidential election. Bloomberg reported, "Bitcoin has shown an upward trend following the shooting incident at Trump's campaign event, with speculation that this event could increase Trump's chances of winning the election."

According to Polymarket, a prediction betting site for various events, the probability of former President Trump winning rose from 60% to 70% immediately after the incident.

This outlook stems from the perception in the cryptocurrency market that former President Trump is more favorable to the crypto industry than President Biden. It is known that Trump referred to himself as the "crypto president" at a fundraising event in San Francisco last month.

Meanwhile, Ethereum also rose 2.50% at the same time, reaching $3,203.
