When Suspicions Arise, "I Will Voluntarily Appear for Investigation"
Prosecution: "Summon Schedule Is Decided by Investigative Agency"
As investigations have begun into YouTubers suspected of threatening the famous YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won), the YouTuber Gujeyeok (Lee Jun-hee), who is involved in the case, has expressed his intention to voluntarily appear before the prosecution. However, the prosecution is expected to refuse the investigation regarding the unilateral intention to appear, as the case is still at the assignment stage.
According to the legal community on the 14th, the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Soon-ho) has been assigned the case of a complaint requesting punishment of YouTubers known to have threatened or conspired against Tzuyang on charges such as extortion, and has started an investigation.
Earlier, the YouTube channel ‘Garosero Research Institute’ claimed on the 10th that Tzuyang was threatened and extorted for money by three YouTubers: Gujeyeok, Karakulla, and Jeon Guk-jin. According to the recordings released by Garosero, some YouTubers affiliated with the ‘Rekka Union’ conspired to extort hundreds of millions of won from Tzuyang by using her past history as leverage. In fact, it is known that Tzuyang signed a ‘service contract’ worth approximately 55 million won with Gujeyeok.
In response, an anonymous accuser named ‘Hwangcheon-gil’ submitted a complaint on the 11th, urging the investigative authorities to thoroughly investigate, stating, “I believe there are other suspects besides the accused in this case.”
Regarding this, Gujeyeok claimed on his YouTube channel that the activity fees he received were intended as funds to prevent other YouTubers from exposing Tzuyang’s past, and stated, “I will return the full amount received as service fees as soon as possible.”
Currently, the prosecution is reportedly reviewing whether they planned to extort hundreds of millions of won from Tzuyang as revealed in the call records exposed by ‘Garosero Research Institute,’ and the circumstances before and after the signing of the contract worth tens of millions of won.
As suspicions continued to arise, Gujeyeok said the day before, “I believe the only way to restore Tzuyang’s peaceful daily life is for me to promptly undergo prosecution investigation and receive judgment on this case,” and announced, “I will voluntarily submit my mobile phone, which contains all of my one-year voice recordings called the ‘Golden Phone,’ to the Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office at 1 p.m. on the 15th, and appear on my own to be investigated.”
However, the prosecution explained, “This case is at the assignment stage, and summons investigations are conducted according to the investigation schedule by the investigative agency.” This appears to indicate a refusal to accept Gujeyeok’s unilateral appearance.
On the 10th, Tzuyang confessed during a YouTube live broadcast that she had suffered years of assault, threats, exploitation, and illegal video filming by her former boyfriend, who was the CEO of her agency.
