Pohang City held a meeting on the 12th, inviting members of the Hakdo Volunteer Army who, at a young age during the Korean War, voluntarily enlisted to protect the nation and its people.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok met with the eight members of the Hakdo Volunteer Army who attended the meeting, expressed his gratitude, and listened to their suggestions. The members reminisced about their participation in the war and paid tribute to their fellow students who lost their lives in their youth.

The Hakdo Volunteer Army refers to student volunteers who, without official military serial numbers, participated in the Korean War as students. The Pohang region's Hakdo Volunteer Army contributed to the victory of the national forces by participating in battles such as Gigae, Angang, Yeongdeok, and Pohang Girls' Middle School.

Kwon Jeongyeol, president of the Pohang branch of the Hakdo Volunteer Army, said, "Please do not forget the sacrifice of the Hakdo Volunteer Army, who gave their lives for the country, and always remember them. I am grateful to Pohang City for organizing this meaningful event, and I hope you will continue to take the lead in inheriting and developing the spirit of our patriotic ancestors."

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "I will strive to carry on the noble patriotism of the Hakdo Volunteer Army, who dedicated their youth to the nation. I am grateful for your role in helping our citizens maintain a strong sense of security, and I ask for your continued interest and support to uphold the status of Pohang as a patriotic city."
